Restoring the Dental Implant
Sometimes we will place a restoration on the implant straight away but this is rare. This is because the implant needs to be stable before we can place the restoration.
Normally for front teeth we will arrange for a temporary bridge to be placed so that we can maintain appearance.
The restoration is usually left in place about 2/4 months after the implant is placed and this is normally completed in one visit.
We restore most of our implants the same day as this reduces the costs considerably and also makes it more convenient for the patients.
Having the restoration placed on the implant is rather like having a crown placed on a root treated tooth. There is no nerve and the procedure is easy and takes about an hour.
In some cases we will place a temporary restoration, simply to allow us to make sure the we have the right shape and colour.
We use a very experienced Implant Laboratory who can restore implants with a variety of materials including gold and porcelain, as well as bridgework and other complex restorations
